Project Laundry Room

Now that the garage is done, I now have some time to work on some smaller projects.  My lovely wife has asked that I look into installing some cabinets in the laundry room above the washer and dryer.  Currently theres just a wire shelf above the laundry machines…

The picture is poor but its hard to get a good angle on it in the room.  My wife was nice enough to draw up some dimensions for me as well that show what she’s looking for…

The setup is simple, two cabinets with some shelves hanging between them.  I’ve built cabinets both in the garage and in the loft and feel pretty comfortable doing it now.  The only catch with this set of cabinets is that she’d like the doors to match what we have in the kitchen.  The kitchen doors are more elaborate than the normal shaker style rail and stile doors I’ve made before.  Here’s what their profile looks like…

Not only is the edge profile more elaborate, but it has a raised panel.  So after some research I fond a bit set for my router table that I think it a pretty good match.  Here’s a rough sample I cut to compare with the existing kitchen doors…

The bit set included the bits required for the raised panel and for cutting the rails and the stiles.  I had to find another bit to cut the edge profile on the outer edge but I feel it’s a good match.  The next step is to see how much plywood I need for the base cabinets.  More to come soon.
