Soldering – take 2

So I wanted to get back to soldering since I hadnt done it in awhile and  I gave up on trying to desolder my first attempt.  That braided wire just sucked.  So I ended up manually removing the components from the perf board (not fun (cut finger (ouch))).  So here’s my second attempt at soldering on the board…

Sort of hard to see, but the gauge of the solid core wire was too thick to fit through the perfboard hole with the component.  So I had to do my cross connects on the back of the board.  In either case – it worked!

So I guess that’s how you use perfboard huh?  Im wondering what you would use if you wanted to actually prototype something and put it in a case.  This stuff might work but it seems pretty brittle.
